I titled this blog entry "Long Overdue" for many, many reasons! One, it's been quite a while since I have posted. I have "thought" about it several times, just never did. I'm not sure if it's laziness, intimidation that I'm not going to be as good of a writer as some other bloggers out there that I read religiously, or what....but lately I have just plained stunk at keeping this up to date. I've decided I'm going to start writing this for ME! A mama needs a place to brag and vent, especially when it seems like free/adult time is few and far between now that the girls are extremely busy.
Mainly, I am writing this because this has been one heck of a week! The list of why this has been such a stressful week is too long to type and get in to. There seems to be so much going on around me with family (will not disclose in case one of them reads this-HA), friends, work (typically I love my job but this week has felt two weeks long), my house being in disarray (which is about to drive me bonkers), lack of sleep (and even when I get a good nights sleep I am STILL feel freaking tired), an extra few pounds have slipped back on making my pants a tad too snug (yes, they are still too tight even after having the dreaded stomach bug!)....I'm pretty certain I could go on and on.
Enough with all the downders, a bit of good news....I get a FREE weekend!! Yes, that's right, a FREE weekend! And guess what this mama is gonna do? First I'm going to sleep in, although I'm sure I'll wake up at the crack of dawn because I have the world's smallest bladder, but I'm sure as heck going to MAKE myself go back to sleep at least until 9am!! I'm crossing my fingers my hubby goes hunting so I will have the bed ALL to myself! As much as I love to snuggle, I simply cannot sleep while he is sawing logs.
As nice as it sounds to veg all day, read and scrapbook, I must be realisitc and utilize my free time to it's fullest. I'll be cleaning, and I mean CLEANING the girls rooms!! I'm about to go ape-crazy with all the toys that they have and don't even play with half of them. Especially now that summer-time is upon us, we spend a majority of our time outside, which is ok with me! Between now and Saturday I'm going to have to have a pep-talk with my "inner hoarder". I have a hard time getting rid of stuff if it's in good shape, and I "think" we might use it someday. But this mama is on a mission, and my girls rooms WILL be cleaned from top to bottom this weekend!! It's time to whip our house into shape so someday in our near future when we decide to sell, hopefully it won't be near as bad packing all our stuff. I'm hoping by then I'll be able to afford movers....a girl can dream, right?
Well, here is to a productive weekend while the girls are away! Let's just hope I find my motivation, which might include a quick trip to Starbucks in my PJs.

Treating myself for the New Year!
Ok, so I know Christmas is not even here yet but I just had to blog about New Years. My hubby told me yesterday about one of my Christmas presents...horse back riding New Years Eve afternoon, followed by a nice dinner and dancing at a nearby entertainment spot, and breakfast in bed the next morning before we leave! And, he's arranged child care for the girls already! I'm so excited I can hardly stand myself!! Silly right? Well it makes it even more exciting because in the 7 years we have been together, we have never done anything exciting on New Years. We've just spent the evening together at home, and the past few years we've even fallen asleep before the ball falls! Ha!
So, guess what I did today? I went shopping and bought a hot dress!! It's a dress that I typically wouldn't have bought. But as I browsed through the store I began gathering dresses that I thought I'd try even if it wasn't my usual style. I mean, it's new years right? Time to get a little funky and have some fun! I seriously had a stack of like 30 dresses! I'm sure the sales ladies were not happy with having to put 29 back on the racks...but at least I did hang them on the rack designated for "items you don't want" instead of leaving them rudely scattered in the dressing rooms! (That is one of my pet peeves! People are so disrespectful and lazy!). Anyways, I did snap a picture of me in the dress and text it to my hubby for his opinion. I hate dress shopping by myself because I am so indecisive. According to my mom I've been that way since I was young, and it seems to have only gotten worse with age! He approved rather quickly (ha!) and so I bought the dress!! Yay for me!
After dinner tonight I tried it on and modeled it for my girls and hubby. As soon as I walked in the room both girls said "oh mommy it's boo-tee-full!" and my hubbys eyes got big. Score! I think i did well! L and N immediately went and put on their princess dresses and we had a dance party to some Bubble Guppies jams!
Ill be sure blog about my fabulous New Years weekend goes, as it may be another 7 years before we live it up again! Lol!

Sleepless Sunday
As I lay here while everyone else in the house is snuggled in their beds sound asleep, I'm wondering where in the heck the weekend went!?! Part of me wishes I was a stay at home mom so my "weekend" per say would never end. But then I think, who the heck am I fooling? I'd pull my hair out strand by strand after a solid week at home with no break. In saying that, I must say that I am eternally grateful for the daycare staff that cares for our girls on a daily basis. I'm absolutely amazed at how much they learn each day. If I'm not careful, my girls are going to start outsmarting me pretty darn soon! Ha.
I really should be laying in bed with the light off, my phone down, and tv off. 5:30 is going to come way to early. I guess taking a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon might be the cause of my sleeplessness. Oh well.
By the way, I'm really digging this blogpress for iPhones!! I'm actually posting to my blog, which I never thought I'd keep up with! Thanks to a fellow twin mama Jenny for posting an entry using blogpress. Thats how I learned about this wonderful and convenient app!
Goodnight all! Heres to hopefully falling asleep even though my hubby is snoring like a hog less than a foot from me! (I can totally understand why my grandparents slept in different beds! My granddad couldn't sleep bc of my gmas snoring and he refused to be kept up because of it!) If only we had a guest room!

Tis' The Season
Peace and quiet. And pure joy. That is my life right now as I sit curled up on the couch by the sparkling Christmas tree while listening to the sound of soft Christmas music in the background. The smell of my red apple wreath candle is making my mouth water. My hubby is out with a friend and the girls are asleep, hopefully dreaming of sugar plums, candy canes and good ole Santa himself! I should be folding laundry or cleaning/organizing something. But, there moments are rare. So I think I'll just sit here, curled up, and enjoy this time to reflect on all the blessings I've been given and think about how much fun the girls are going to have this Christmas! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing their wide eyes on Christmas morning when they see what Santa has brought them. I'll have to admit that I'm quite anxious about devouring some high calorie boiled custard and homemade candy too!!

Be Cautious How You Explain Things to a Toddler!
A few days ago we went to a new (at least to us) local Mexican restaurant. Hubby for some reason felt the need to explain the ethnicity of the people who would be working there. Before really thinking about it, Hubby said, "they are like Dora." I immediately gave him the "evil-eye!" He gave me "the smirk", acknowledging that it was probably not the best thing to say. The girls started shouting "I wanna see Dora, I wanna see Dora!" I came so close to suggesting going to another restaurant, but my stomach was demanding Mexican food! Upon entering, both of them looked at me with a very anxious expression and asked "Mommy, where's Dora, where's Boot?" I could have crawled under a booth! I sure hope the host didn't hear that, but I'm sure he did. I was too embarrassed to even look at his face to see what type of expression he had. Periodically throughout dinner they would blurt out "Where's Dora, Where's Boots?" but I just ignored it and continued to enjoy my dinner!
Honestly I am not sure why this embarrassed me as it did, because I am not easily embarrassed or offended. It sure proves that kids do say the darnedest things at the most inopportune times. And, I'm certain this is just the beginning of moments like these!
This "funny" did get my mind rolling though. There sure are A LOT of topics that I am going to have to explain to the girls as they get older. I don't think I'm quite ready for all this....where in the heck is the pause button?

New to the blogging world......
I've been contemplating on starting a blog for quite some time. After reading lots of blogs (of both good friends and complete strangers) for the past several months, I'm going to give it my best shot! I'm hoping that keeping a blog will help me document special moments or vent when I need to. Here goes....
