Treating myself for the New Year!

Ok, so I know Christmas is not even here yet but I just had to blog about New Years. My hubby told me yesterday about one of my Christmas presents...horse back riding New Years Eve afternoon, followed by a nice dinner and dancing at a nearby entertainment spot, and breakfast in bed the next morning before we leave! And, he's arranged child care for the girls already! I'm so excited I can hardly stand myself!! Silly right? Well it makes it even more exciting because in the 7 years we have been together, we have never done anything exciting on New Years. We've just spent the evening together at home, and the past few years we've even fallen asleep before the ball falls! Ha!

So, guess what I did today? I went shopping and bought a hot dress!! It's a dress that I typically wouldn't have bought. But as I browsed through the store I began gathering dresses that I thought I'd try even if it wasn't my usual style. I mean, it's new years right? Time to get a little funky and have some fun! I seriously had a stack of like 30 dresses! I'm sure the sales ladies were not happy with having to put 29 back on the racks...but at least I did hang them on the rack designated for "items you don't want" instead of leaving them rudely scattered in the dressing rooms! (That is one of my pet peeves! People are so disrespectful and lazy!). Anyways, I did snap a picture of me in the dress and text it to my hubby for his opinion. I hate dress shopping by myself because I am so indecisive. According to my mom I've been that way since I was young, and it seems to have only gotten worse with age! He approved rather quickly (ha!) and so I bought the dress!! Yay for me!

After dinner tonight I tried it on and modeled it for my girls and hubby. As soon as I walked in the room both girls said "oh mommy it's boo-tee-full!" and my hubbys eyes got big. Score! I think i did well! L and N immediately went and put on their princess dresses and we had a dance party to some Bubble Guppies jams!

Ill be sure blog about my fabulous New Years weekend goes, as it may be another 7 years before we live it up again! Lol!

Sleepless Sunday

As I lay here while everyone else in the house is snuggled in their beds sound asleep, I'm wondering where in the heck the weekend went!?! Part of me wishes I was a stay at home mom so my "weekend" per say would never end. But then I think, who the heck am I fooling? I'd pull my hair out strand by strand after a solid week at home with no break. In saying that, I must say that I am eternally grateful for the daycare staff that cares for our girls on a daily basis. I'm absolutely amazed at how much they learn each day. If I'm not careful, my girls are going to start outsmarting me pretty darn soon! Ha.

I really should be laying in bed with the light off, my phone down, and tv off. 5:30 is going to come way to early. I guess taking a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon might be the cause of my sleeplessness. Oh well.

By the way, I'm really digging this blogpress for iPhones!! I'm actually posting to my blog, which I never thought I'd keep up with! Thanks to a fellow twin mama Jenny for posting an entry using blogpress. Thats how I learned about this wonderful and convenient app!

Goodnight all! Heres to hopefully falling asleep even though my hubby is snoring like a hog less than a foot from me! (I can totally understand why my grandparents slept in different beds! My granddad couldn't sleep bc of my gmas snoring and he refused to be kept up because of it!) If only we had a guest room!

Tis' The Season

Peace and quiet. And pure joy. That is my life right now as I sit curled up on the couch by the sparkling Christmas tree while listening to the sound of soft Christmas music in the background. The smell of my red apple wreath candle is making my mouth water. My hubby is out with a friend and the girls are asleep, hopefully dreaming of sugar plums, candy canes and good ole Santa himself! I should be folding laundry or cleaning/organizing something. But, there moments are rare. So I think I'll just sit here, curled up, and enjoy this time to reflect on all the blessings I've been given and think about how much fun the girls are going to have this Christmas! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing their wide eyes on Christmas morning when they see what Santa has brought them. I'll have to admit that I'm quite anxious about devouring some high calorie boiled custard and homemade candy too!!
